New Construction - The Sealoflex Waterproofing Systems are equally effective in New Construction as they are in Recovery and Reroofing applications. In fact, they provide the designer with the unique opportunity to incorporate the Coping, inside of parapet wall, and roof surface into a monolithic membrane. This membrane, therefore does not require multiple interfaces or junctions between dissimilar materials. The necessity for termination metal such as drip edge and termination bars become redundant, reducing the dependency on metalwork skills.
For New Construction projects: Select the existing roof surface then select the Sealoflex System (Rubber Based or Water Based) to be applied.
- Concrete
Concrete roofs worldwide provide the most stable roof construction for resistance to hurricanes and other severe weather conditions. Sealoflex® Systems, in combination with these substrates, further enhance the uplift resistance during severe weather events.
As a general rule, concrete roof surfaces should be sloped before waterproofing is applied. This can either be achieved by casting the structural slab with a slope of at least 1/4" per foot (2% slope) or casting a sloped layer on top of the structural slab. In certain areas, this is commonly done with Cellular Lightweight Concrete, which also serves as thermal insulation. This can also be achieved by simply using a dry pack sand-cement screed. In any event, whatever method is used, it is recommended that Sealoment™ Plus be applied as soon as the surface has become walkable. This will prevent water from entering the concrete during the curing period and increasing the moisture content of the substrate before the application of the relevant Sealoflex® System.
- Gypsum
Gypsum is a commonly used material used for creating roof subsurfaces onto which are applied various waterproofing membranes. Gypsum is supplied in panel form and fastened to the roof structure.

- Insulation Board
The most commmon forms of Insulation panels found in the roofing industry are Polyisocyanurate Board (ISO Board), Expanded Polystyrene Board (EPS Board) and Extruded Polystyrene. These boards can either be mechanically fastened or glued to the roof structure. The Sealoflex® System is then applied to these surfaces.
- Plywood
Plywood surfaces form excellent substrates for Sealoflex® waterproofing applications and, in general, do not require priming.
